This
is the company car that I am most fond of. When my Dad got a new company
car, I believe the only choice he could make himself was the colour.
The model and spec were already chosen by the firm, but I can remember
looking through the colour charts with him - it was so much fun choosing!
He picked the Coventry City Sky Blue for this one and it looked great! My Dad had a habit of keeping a small part of each car as a little keepsake. His current car has the rubber 'GM' branded mats in it from this very car and I also found the key fob the other day (see picture) The Picture shows my brother and I standing next to SAN. I was Six and Fraser was Four. Check out our coats - Fraser is wearing a Paddington bear-esque Duffel coat, and I'm in the ubiquitous Parker. I think they're back in fashion again! Look at how things have changed - no passenger side wingmirror and no side repeaters! I bet it didn't have rear seatbelts either. We had a set which we used to move from car to car! |
The Car is a bit too old to be on the database search, which means it was probably scrapped in the late '80's. I did see a Cavalier with a very similar number when I lived in Tooting, South West London. It gave me some hope that SAN may have survived - alas, no
The enquiry is complete the vehicle details for SAN 734Y are: Date of Liability Not Available Date of First Registration 29 09 1982 Year of Manufacture 1982 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1297CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Not Available Vehicle Colour BLUE |
Here
is a picture of us again this time with my Dad. Incidentally, the blue
Ford Escort behind us in the picture (ULX 547X) appears to have been
around until 1995. It was registered on the 17/08/81 and its tax was
due on the 01/10/95 which wasn't renewed. Presumably it was scrapped
around this time |
